“I never doubted making my imaginary school a reality and a career,” Schrott said. “When I finally had my own classroom, it was my turn to make beautiful each child’s natural gift.”

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]FB_TOY_PageJennifer Schrott’s training as a teacher came long before her position as a first grade teacher at Fern Bluff Elementary School. Her first students were stuffed animals and Schrott recalls her childhood as days filled with “playing school” in her imaginary classroom. Through these early experiences, Schrott has concluded that teaching is her gift.

Schrott has taught first grade at Fern Bluff for a decade and is the 2017 Fern Bluff Teacher of the Year.

“I never doubted making my imaginary school a reality and a career,” Schrott said. “When I finally had my own classroom, it was my turn to make beautiful each child’s natural gift.”

On a daily basis first graders in Schrott’s class enjoy learning by creating, moving, talking, building and singing. Beyond that, Schrott makes herself available to her students families, offering reading strategies and motivational ideas. Schrott is also known as the team memeber others go to when they need someone to listen and collaborate.

Fern Bluff Principal Dr. Elizabeth Wilson said Schrott works hard to keep students engaged, kind and happy and creates an inviting classroom for both her students and their families.

“Jennifer Schrott is the type of teacher and employee that you want to clone,” Wilson said. “She works hard everyday to the benefit of her students and our school community.”

Schrott focuses on understanding her student’s gifts as well as struggles to tailor a unique and meaningful classroom experience for all individuals.

“When their gift is not reading, writing or math, I show them compassion and patience and find ways to let them engage in their natural gifts as much as possible,” Schrott said. “School is not a choice for my students, but it is a choice that I make every day to make it bearable for them and to acknowledge and support them in whatever their natural gifts are.”[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_raw_html]JTNDaWZyYW1lJTIwd2lkdGglM0QlMjI1NjAlMjIlMjBoZWlnaHQlM0QlMjIzMTUlMjIlMjBzcmMlM0QlMjJodHRwcyUzQSUyRiUyRnd3dy55b3V0dWJlLmNvbSUyRmVtYmVkJTJGcnNYRFdha2gzTXclMjIlMjBmcmFtZWJvcmRlciUzRCUyMjAlMjIlMjBhbGxvd2Z1bGxzY3JlZW4lM0UlM0MlMkZpZnJhbWUlM0U=[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row]
