Rating Definitions

The State of Texas has adopted rules to evaluate the performance of school districts and individual campuses and to assign to each district and school a performance rating as follows:

Base Indicators Academically Acceptable Recognized Exemplary
TAKS results - All students and each student group meeting minimum size requirements

Meets each standard:
Reading/ELA: 70% passing
Writing: 70% passing
Social Studies: 70% passing
Math: 60% passing

Science: 55% passing

OR meets Required Improvement

OR meets standards with TPM

Meets 80% passing for each subject

OR meets 70% floor and Required Improvement

OR meets standards with TPM

Meets 90% passings for each subject

OR meets standards with TPM

The TAKS indicator will include the following TAKS (Accommodated) results: Science (English) grades 5, 8, 10, & 11; Science (Spanish) grade 5; Social Studies for grades 8, 10 & 11; ELA for grade 11; and Math for grade 11      
Completion Rate I - All students and each student group meeting minimum size requirements Meets 75% standard OR Required Improvement Meets 85% standard OR meets 75% floor and Required Improvement  Meets 95% standard 
Dropout Rate - All students and each student group meeting minimum size requirements Meets 1.8% standard OR  Required Improvement Meets 1.8% standard OR Required Improvement Meets 1.8% standard OR Required Improvement

Academically Unacceptable – Below the acceptable performance standard and does not meet Required Improvement
