Teaching Students with Visual Impairments
All of the visually impaired students in the Round Rock Independent School District are being educated in classrooms with their sighted peers in programs appropriate to their academic needs. These students, their classroom teachers, schools and families are supported by our VI Department. We are here to help reduce the impact of students visual impairment on his or her education. Our students visual abilities range from mild (that may require magnifiers, large print, seating changes in the classroom,..) to totally blind (braille, abacus, braille note takers,...). We currently have six certified teachers for the visually impaired that serve over seventy identified students in our district from the age of birth-22.
The service models range from consultation to direct service (defined below) We hope these web pages and links will serve to give you the resources you will need to help make your year more productive and efficient. Please contact us with any questions you have..
