Prekindergarten & Kindergarten Roundup
Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
At Every Round Rock ISD Elementary School
Any child who will be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2009, and who lives in the Round Rock ISD is eligible to attend the district’s full-day kindergarten. If you have a child who is eligible, please go to your neighborhood elementary school anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on April 1 to register.
A half-day prekindergarten program is also available for children who will be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2009, who live in the district and:
- have a limited ability to speak and/or comprehend the English language; or
- are homeless; or
- whose family income allows the child to qualify for free or reduced lunch (students eligible for free or reduced price lunches must verify income at the beginning of every year); or
- are children of active duty uniformed members, which includes parents or guardians, of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force or Coast Guard who are assigned to duty stations in Texas or who are Texans who have eligible children residing in Texas; or
- are children of Guard and Reserve-Activated / Mobilized uniform members of the Texas National Guard-Army or Air Guard or the Activated / Mobilized members of the Reserve components of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force or Coast Guard who are Texas residents regardless of the location of the reserve unit; or
- are children of an Active Duty Service member /Mobilized Reservist/ Guardsman who was injured or wounded while serving on active duty, also qualifies; or
- are children of military parents who are missing in action or who have died; or
- is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services following an adversary hearing held as provided by Section 262.201, Family Code.
If you do not have a child who is eligible for kindergarten or prekindergarten,
please share this information with a neighbor or friend who does!
Parents should bring the following to registration on April 1:
- Proof of residence within the district (contract on house, lease agreement, actual title to house, or current RRISD tax statement)
- Child’s official birth certificate
- Child’s immunization record (Kindergarten children MUST be immunized for DTP, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, HIB, Hep-B, and varicella. Pre-K children must have Hep-A, pneumococcal (PCV7), DTP, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, HIB, Hep-B and varicella)
- Child’s social security card
You should come to registration even if you do not have all of the above information.
Parents will be given notice of when these ítems are due.
