Summer School 2009

Elementary Summer School

Grades 3-5 Student Success Initiative

Dates: Monday through Thursday / June 8 through July 1, 2009

Time: 7:45 to 11:45 a.m.

Location: Information concerning summer school location will be provided upon completion of registration form.

Tuition: None

Transportation: provided from designated locations (to be announced)

Meals: Breakfast and a snack will be provided.

Student Eligibility:

  • Students who have not passed 3rd grade reading TAKS
  • Students who did not pass BOTH the 4th grade reading and Math TAKS
  • Students who have not passed 5th grade reading TAKS
  • Students who have not passed 5th grade math TAKS

PreK and Kindergarten Bilingual/ESOL

Dates: Monday through Thursday / July 14 through August 6, 2009*
The first day of class is Tuesday, July 14.

Time: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Location: Information concerning summer school location will be provided upon completion of registration form.

Tuition: None

Transportation: provided from designated locations (to be announced)

Meals: Breakfast, lunch and snack provided for the PreK and Kindergarten program.

Student Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled Pre-K and Kindergarten students who are served through Bilingual/ESOL programs.

 Middle School Summer School

Programs:
  • Middle School Course Recovery - students in grades 6, 7, 8 who failed a core course.
  • Student Success Initiatives (SSI) - Only students who fail the second administrations of the 8th grade Reading TAKS or the 8th grade Math TAKS are eligible for SSI summer school. Parents of eligible students will be contacted by their home campuses regarding registration procedures.
  • English Language Learner (ELL) - any student identified as an English Language Learner or Limited English Proficient (LEP).

Locations:
  • C.D. Fulkes MS: Students who attend Hopewell MS and Ridgeview MS
  • Chisholm Trail MS: Students who attend Canyon Vista MS, Cedar Valley MS, Deerpark MS, Walsh MS  and Chisholm Trail MS

Pre-Registration Dates:
May 5 - May 22, 2009 at home campus   

Registration Dates:
Session 1: June 9 and June 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at C.D. Fulkes MS and Chisholm Trail MS
Session 2: June 24 and June 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at C.D. Fulkes MS and Chisholm Trail MS

Late Registration Date:
Session 1: June 11 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Dates for Session I:

Monday through Thursday, June 15 through July 2, 2009
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Dates for Session II:
Monday through Thursday, July 13 through July 30, 2009
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

  SSI Summer School


Eligibility/Qualification:  
8th grade students who failed the first and/or second administrations of the Math and/or Reading TAKS test.

SSI Program Focus:
Students will receive TEKS-focused instruction in Math and/or Reading in preparation for the 3rd and final administration of the 8th grade Math & Reading TAKS
    
Fee:
There is no fee for SSI summer school.

Registration for SSI:

Results from the last test will be received by campuses by the end of May.  Campus Administrator will hold conferences with parents and students will be assigned SSI Summer School.

Monday throughThursday from June 8th through June 29th, 2009
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

SSI Transportation:
Location: Hopewell MS
Hopewell students only - transportation will be provided throughout the neighborhood based on the location of the students attending.

Location: C.D. Fulkes MS
C.D. Fulkes students only - transportation will be provided throughout the neighborhood based on the location of the students attending.

Location: Ridgeview MS
Ridgeview students only - transportation will be provided throughout the neighborhood based on the location of the students attending.

 High School Summer School

Programs:
  • HS Credit Recovery - students in grades 9-12 who failed a course
  • Credit Recovery for the following courses: English III, English IV, U.S. History, Government, Economics, World History, and World Geography.
  • Direct instruction for the following courses: Spanish I, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, IPC Biology, English I, English II, and ESOL Reading
  • TAKS Preparation - Students who failed Exit Level ELA, Science, Social Studies and/or Math TAKS.
  • English Language Learner - students identified as an English Language Learner or LEP.
  • Early Graduation Acceleration: English III will be offered for students interested in graduating early. Student must follow the early graduation requirements identified at the campus level to participate.

Locations:

  • Round Rock High School: Students who attend both Round Rock HS and Westwood HS
  • Stony Point High School: Students who attend both Stony Point HS and McNeil HS

Pre-Registration Dates:
May 5 through May 27 at home campus

Registration Dates:
Session 1: June 9 & June 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at Stony Point HS and Round Rock HS
Session 2: June 24 & June 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at Stony Point HS and Round Rock HS

Session 1: June 11 from 3 to 7:00 p.m.
Session 2: June 26 from 3 to 7:00 p.m.
