Posted Date: 4/17/2009

The RRISD Board of Trustees approved the District Goals for the 2009-2010 school year during its April meeting. The board, along with administrators, developed seven goals with the help of Deputy Executive Director for the Education Service Center, Region XIII Joe Thedford.

Proposed District Goals 2009-2010

  • Accelerate TAKS gains for economically disadvantaged, African American, and Hispanic students to reduce the achievement gap
  • Increase the percentage of underrepresented minority students enrolled in Advanced Placement, Dual Credit, International Baccalaureate, and Algebra I (middle school) courses
  • Increase the graduation rate for economically disadvantaged, African American, and Hispanic students
  • Maintain and re-administer the employee climate survey, and develop and implement a similar instrument to measure student morale and school climate
  • Fully implement the diversity training plan
  • Provide adequate resources for instructional improvement
  • Develop a “profile” for each campus in the district to provide basic demographic, academic achievement, and facility data in a consistent and easy to understand format

The goals are designed to help the district meet its mission of providing exemplary education, guidance, and encouragement to empower all students to reach their individual potential and become contributing members of a diverse community.
