Name nominations were accepted through September 8, 2009.
Round Rock ISD will be opening a new elementary and middle school next fall and is currently accepting name nominations for each school. The district recently broke ground on its 31st Elementary School at 3800 Stone Oak Drive, Round Rock. The Stony Point 9th grade center will be repurposed to a middle school with the opening of Cedar Ridge HS in August 2010.
According to RRISD Board Policy CW (Local), the recommendations for school names shall be studied by a committee. The committee consists of seven citizens of the District, one selected by each of the seven Trustees, one Trustee appointed by the Board President, and one administrator appointed by the Superintendent. The committee will be chaired by the administrator. Schools will be named and/or dedicated according to the following guidelines:
• Nominations may be submitted through September 8, 2009 via an online form on the district’s Web site; mailed to the district at 1311 Round Rock Ave., Round Rock, Texas 78681; or faxed to 512-464-5055. The nominations must state the reasons for the suggested name.
• A school facility may not be named after any living individual. A school facility may be named for any individual who is deceased and who has historical significance for the community, state or nation.
• The location of the school facility may be used as a recommended name.
