RRISD Festival of Bands postponed until Nov. 4
Posted Date: 10/29/2009

Due to inclement weather, the Round Rock ISD Festival of Bands has been postponed. The 10th Annual Festival of Bands has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at the RRISD Athletic Complex on Parmer Lane.

The annual event is designed to showcase the musical accomplishments of the RRISD band programs across the district, with proceeds used for festival expenses, transportation and professional development for all RRISD Fine Arts teachers.

The Festival will feature marching bands and auxiliaries from McNeil, Round Rock, Stony Point, and Westwood High Schools in exhibition marching performances.  In addition, Canyon Vista, CD Fulkes, Cedar Valley, Chisholm Trail, Deerpark, Grisham, Hopewell, Ridgeview, and Walsh Middle School Bands will each be performing two selections from a seated stage area. TV personality and RRISD graduate Quita Culpepper will be the guest mistress of ceremonies.

Due to the rescheduling, it is unknown at this time if the Baylor University “Golden Wave Marching Band” will perform on Nov. 4.

Tickets are $6 each for adults and $5 for students (pre-schoolers are free) and can be purchased from any RRISD band student or at the gate on the evening of the Festival. However, the adult public is encouraged to purchase a special donation ticket for $7, which will earmark $1 to help provide partial scholarships for private music lessons for students who need financial aid.
