“I learned many things when I read to the Pre-K students,” ALAS Ambassador Ivonne Mederos Cosio said. “It helped me feel more confident, and I thought it was very exciting. I am thankful for the help to grow step by step.”

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]The Academic Language Academy at Success High School (ALAS) Ambassadors visited Voigt Elementary School to read with young students while kicking off a literacy partnership with the dual language Pre-Kindergarten class.

The ALAS Ambassadors partnered with Ana Garza’s dual language class and brought books to read with the students. The Ambassadors checked out library books specifically for the partnership and had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the students.

“Taking the ALAS Ambassadors to Voigt Elementary was an amazing experience for everyone involved,” ALAS Teacher Kinzie Morgan said. “Even our shyest, most reluctant students were fully engaged with their Pre-K buddies. I am so proud of our ALAS students’ leadership skills, kindness, and ability to find joy in new experiences”

The partnership will continue throughout the year and give both the ALAS Ambassadors and Pre-K students the confidence to continue reading in Spanish and English.
