[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The cheer team from Deerpark Middle School was awarded the title of “Best Overall” after receiving the highest scores at the Round Rock ISD middle school Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) summer camp.
Cheer teams from 10 District middle schools attended the three-day summer camp where they learned and performed a dance, cheer and chant. The Deerpark Ranger cheer team received the highest scores in each event, ranking them best overall.
“The UCA middle school camps model an environment that creates team trust and unity while building individual self-esteem and skill growth,” said Susan Nix, RRISD assistant athletics director. “The Deerpark cheer program gets better every year. They embody team values and promote goodwill at their school and throughout the District.”
During camp, the UCA named six Deerpark cheerleaders All-American granting them the opportunity to perform in the Houston Thanksgiving Day Parade with All-American Cheerleaders from all over the nation. The criteria for being chosen as an All-American is based on a point system used by UCA nationwide.
Cheerleaders from Deerpark selected as All-Americans were eighth-grader students Harper Sunstrom, Cayla Gardner, Grace Hanes, Rocky Adeniji; seventh-grader students Anisa Morales and Emberlea Bradford.
