High schools showcase 30 students signing athletic scholarships
Round Rock ISD stadiums and gyms are filled with future college athletes. In November the District’s five high schools celebrated five Cedar Ridge Raiders, four McNeil Mavericks, eight Round Rock Dragons, five Stony Point Tigers, and eight Westwood Warriors who signed commitments to continue their student-athlete careers at a university. Congratulations to all student-athletes who will continue their education in a college or university!
Partners in Education Foundation partners to form scholarship to honor Coach Kelley
Coming together after loss, family, friends, colleagues and students of Coach Sean Kelley are joining forces to create a scholarship in his honor. So far, community members have raised about $8,000 for the fund. The Sean Kelley Memorial Scholarship will support selected graduating seniors who attend Stony Point and plan to pursue higher education. Visit the PIEF website for more details on the scholarship.
Cedar Ridge Athletic Coordinator, Football Coach Shawn Bell to take job at Baylor
Coach Shawn Bell will be heading back to his alma mater to help coach the Baylor University football team after one season at Cedar Ridge High School. The Raiders had a phenomenal season under his leadership, finishing undefeated in the district regular season.
District play looms for high school basketball
Basketball teams are starting District 13-6A play, with the girls teams in full swing last week and boys starting this week. The Lady Raiders eked out a win over Westwood on Dec. 6, 59-56.
