Round Rock ISD has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Rainwater Charitable Foundation to support an innovative initiative aimed at improving student outcomes in English Language Arts (ELA) through the use of emerging educational technology.

The district’s proposal was selected for full funding as part of the Foundation’s Emerging Ed Tech grant opportunity for the 2025–2026 school year. According to the Foundation, Round Rock ISD’s project stood out for its innovation, potential for impact, and precise alignment with the grant's goals.

“We were impressed by the thoughtfulness of Round Rock ISD’s proposal and its commitment to leveraging technology to improve student outcomes in ELA,” said Jeanelle Davis, Senior Principal at the Rainwater Charitable Foundation. “The district’s project stood out as a strong example of innovation, impact potential, and alignment with the goals of this funding opportunity.”

In addition to the grant award, Round Rock ISD will participate in a 2025–2026 learning cohort alongside other grantees. The cohort will serve as a space for collaboration, technical support, and shared learning, with opportunities to connect both virtually and in person throughout the school year.

These gatherings will include: peer presentations, guest speakers, and guided discussions aimed at helping districts refine and expand their use of technology in the classroom.

“We’re thrilled that Round Rock ISD has been awarded this grant,” said Round Rock ISD’s Senior Chief of Schools and Innovation, Dr. Natalie Nichols. “This investment empowers us to bring cutting‑edge educational technology into our ELA classrooms in meaningful ways. We’re excited to see how this initiative will enhance teaching and learning for every student across our district.”

The Rainwater Charitable Foundation will provide ongoing support to grant recipients and will follow up with details on onboarding and scheduling in the coming weeks.

Round Rock ISD is proud to be selected for this opportunity and remains committed to using technology in transformative ways that directly benefit student learning.
