A message from Dr. Hafedh Azaiez, Superintendent of Schools

Dear Round Rock ISD Community,

The start of a new school year is always one of my favorite times of the year. Every day is exciting as we get closer to the day our educators, families and students return, and on Tuesday, we’ll welcome nearly 47,000 students back to our schools!

Students are at the heart of the decisions we make and the actions we take. It starts with all of us — schools, families, and community — to inspire and motivate our children, and to encourage them to work hard, make good choices, and find a direction that fills them with pride and accomplishment.

Our staff's relentless commitment, along with the involvement of our families and community volunteers, PTA, Partners in Education Foundation, Booster Clubs, and community and business partners who prioritize our students' well-being, are part of what makes Round Rock ISD Central Texas’s premier school district.

An important change that will take effect this school year, based on new guidance from the Texas Legislature, House Bill 1481, requires every public and charter school in the state to establish policies that prohibit student use of personal communication devices. This includes cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, and earbuds during the school day. This rule applies to all areas of the school, including hallways, cafeterias, and during passing periods from arrival to dismissal bell.

In the coming weeks, we will work closely with teachers, students, and families to develop our district-aligned policy and share guidelines about how devices should be stored and handled on campus.

Focusing on student success takes all of us.

With shared dedication and teamwork, we create an environment where all students thrive and reach their full potential.

Respectfully,

Dr. Hafedh "AZ" Azaiez
Proud Superintendent of Schools
