Last week saw the first meeting of the 2024 Citizens Bond Committee (CBC), a group of community members, taxpayers, and parents working to create bond recommendations for the board of trustees.
More than 120 people volunteered to join the group, which is supported by staff and senior district leadership. The committee is led by two longtime volunteers: Fabian Cuero, whose children are alumni of the district; and Lindsey Ledyard, whose children are current students.
“One of the most striking aspects of our initial meeting was the depth of expertise and passion that each member brought to the table,” Cuero said. “It was inspiring to witness individuals from various backgrounds, professions, and perspectives come together, united by a common goal. The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our future leaders is exciting.”
Ledyard agreed, highlighting that the group includes volunteers from all learning communities.
“It was a humbling experience kicking off this process with such a diverse group of individuals from varying backgrounds and every learning community in our district,” Ledyard said. “Having perspectives from across the district will be incredibly helpful in building consensus around the overall needs of our district. I’m also thankful to be working alongside Fabian in this effort. His experience from the 2018 Bond is invaluable.”
Cuero and Ledyard will present in June a final list of recommendations to the board of trustees, which will decide whether the district should call for a bond. Only the board can call for a bond.
