Round Rock ISD celebrated the opening of the newly renovated cafeteria at Stony Point High School with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Aug. 8.
The transformation significantly increases seating capacity in the cafeteria, enhances the exterior covered patio, and introduces modern finishes throughout the space.
“If you've been on our campus before, there was a jam-packed cafeteria. However, now, it is a spacious cafeteria, and we are so excited about it,” said Principal Anthony Watson. “As we've grown, we needed greater dining areas. They needed to be more functional, more welcoming, and more efficient. With more room, we hope to have less congestion in our serving lines, because now students don't have to just wait around.”
Improvements include new furniture, enhanced LED lighting, and infrastructure updates that promote student wellness and support a positive campus environment.
The expansion was part of the voter-approved 2018 Bond initiative, which funded facility improvements, campus expansions, and strategic planning projects across the district.
In 2023, the Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees voted to authorize a design phase to expand capacity to at least 872 seats. That decision enabled the district to pursue a more comprehensive upgrade that aligned with long-term facility needs.
“I want to thank our board members and the 2018 voters who approved the bond to make this happen,” said Superintendent Hafedh Azaiez. “I would also like to thank everyone who was involved with the Citizen Bond Committee and anyone else who helped make this project a reality for our students.”
The completion marks a key milestone in Round Rock ISD’s continued investment in high-quality facilities that support student achievement and well-being.
