Round Rock ISD welcomed its 2025 Leadership Round Rock ISD cohort on Sept. 3 at Deerpark Middle School. There, participants heard from Superintendent Dr. Hafedh Azaiez and other members of the district’s executive leadership team about the state of the district, along with a quick message from City Council Member Krista Laine.
Following the presentation, guests toured the campus with Principal Rudy Garcia, who highlighted the school’s programs and learning spaces.
“Leadership Round Rock ISD is special because it brings district and campus leaders, parents, and community members together each month in meaningful engagement,” said Jackie Cyriac, supervisor of community partnerships and government relations and host of the event. “Having all these voices at the table creates opportunities to share feedback and develop solutions that truly support our students and staff.”
The program offers a comprehensive insight into the various operations of the district. The yearlong initiative includes monthly sessions covering topics such as finance, curriculum, student programs, and facilities.
“Leadership Round Rock ISD is about building relationships,” Dr. Azaiez said. “It allows us to connect directly with parents and community members who care deeply about our schools. By working together, we can continue to provide the best possible education for our students.”
For parent and guest educator Amanda Surrec, the program is an opportunity to better understand the systems that support Round Rock ISD students.
“We’ve been with Round Rock ISD for the past 12 years with kids in school,” said Surrec. “I wanted to learn about the inner workings of the district so that I could have a better understanding of what goes on, and also be able to better provide input as a parent and a guest educator.”
Surrec said having a voice in district conversations is meaningful.
“Being able to provide input, and understand all the systems at play makes you feel part of it rather than just being an outsider and not really knowing what’s happening where your kids are at,” she said.
The 2025 Leadership Round Rock cohort will meet monthly through the school year, ending in May.
