Dear Round Rock ISD Community,
Through Oct. 15, our schools are celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring the histories, cultures, and contributions of those with roots in Spain, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.
Nearly one-third of our students identify as Latino, and their cultures, traditions, and identities enrich our schools every day. That spirit came to life at Robertson Elementary School’s second annual Salsa Night, where families enjoyed a lively evening of performances, a salsa contest, and plenty of camaraderie. Enjoy this video highlighting the celebration!
This month, we also recognize Deaf Awareness Month, a time to celebrate Deaf culture while promoting understanding, inclusion and accessibility. Round Rock ISD is proud to be home to the Capital Area Regional Day School Program for the Deaf, which serves more than 275 students from 20 Central Texas districts, from infancy through graduation. These students receive specialized support from certified teachers at Live Oak Elementary, Deerpark Middle and McNeil High School. Additionally, students across the district can explore American Sign Language as a high school elective, fostering connections through this expressive language.
These celebrations remind us that the opportunities and support in our district are truly unmatched.
¡Feliz Mes Nacional de la Herencia Hispana! Thank you for your continued support and for keeping students at the heart of all we do.
