Round Rock ISD families, students, staff, and community members gathered for Coffee with a Cop on Monday, Sept. 29, at Cedar Ridge High School.
The event, co-hosted with the Cedar Ridge High School PTA, offered an opportunity for open conversations with the district’s school-based law enforcement officers. Attendees enjoyed coffee, tea, and cookies while connecting with officers on a personal level and discussing campus and community safety.
Round Rock ISD Chief of Police Ryan Urrutia said he was encouraged by the turnout and the conversations that took place.
“It gave students, parents, and staff the chance to connect with our officers in conversation and team building,” he said. “Building these relationships helps us as a community create a safe and supportive school environment together.”
Assistant Chief Latriesha Grandy echoed the importance of events like Coffee with a Cop.
“My biggest takeaway from the night is how important collaborations within the district are to the overall success of the police department,” Grandy said. “These partnerships create spaces where youth and parents can engage, voice concerns, and receive clarity on issues that affect them.”
Attendees left with safety tips related to physical, emotional, and online safety, as well as new connections with the officers serving their schools.
Round Rock ISD looks forward to continuing these conversations and fostering connections between students, families, and our school resource officers. To learn more about our police department, visit https://www.roundrockisd.org/page/police.
