Oct. 1 Meeting Updates:
GoGuardian/Beacon: Enhancing Student Safety: Round Rock ISD has acquired a five-year subscription to GoGuardian’s Beacon software for all student devices, enhancing safety measures managed by the Office of Safety and Security and other administrators.
Beacon monitors activities for signs of self-harm, weapon acquisition, or threats of violence, ensuring that appropriate staff are promptly notified to support and intervene when necessary. More information about Go Guardian/Beacon will be coming from the district soon.
Potential Partnership with Round Rock Police Department: The Round Rock Police Department has proposed collaborating with our district to implement the “Drones as First Responder” program. This partnership would cost the district nothing and would allow the department to use select district properties as launch sites. In return, the district would benefit from enhanced emergency response capabilities and access to drone resources when needed.
Bylaws Subcommittee Update: The Bylaws Subcommittee provided an update on the revisions completed since the last meeting. The group is continuing to seek input and clarification from the full committee and the Texas School Safety Center. Additionally, the subcommittee is actively working to increase opportunities for student and parent engagement.
Emergency Operations Plan: A presentation on the Emergency Operations Plan was submitted for final state review, and an update on the district’s reunification plan was provided to the district.
We invite all members of the community to attend or participate in upcoming Safety and Security Committee meetings. Meetings are held at the Round Rock ISD district office, located at 1311 Round Rock Ave, Round Rock, TX 78681, in the Old Hopewell Building. Meetings will be advertised at least a week in advance on the district events calendar.
