Did you know? More than 700 individual projects will be completed at our campuses and facilities as part of the 2024 Bond program. These projects can be minor in scope and include anything from interior paint jobs or major and range up to new additions to existing buildings to make more permanent spaces for our students.

These projects are classified as targeted, comprehensive and campus athletic. This month, we’ll break out what each means and provide an example of them in work across the district.

Comprehensive Projects

A comprehensive project addresses many of the more complex needs of a facility (deficiencies, educational suitability, capacity, etc.) in one or several phases. This can include projects such as building additions to replace portables and building upgrades that prioritize accessibility, and can incorporate CTE programming in more authentic ways.

Comprehensive projects are planned for: Berkman ES, Bluebonnet ES, Brushy Creek ES, C.D. Fulkes Auditorium, Cedar Ridge HS, Cedar Valley MS, Deerpark MS, Great Oaks ES, Grisham MS, McNeil HS, Purple Sage ES, Round Rock HS, Stony Point HS and Westwood HS. Many of these projects are currently under design with feedback from students, staff, families and stakeholders being used to guide the design of these projects.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT: Stony Point HS

As part of the 2024 Bond, SPHS will see classroom additions (to replace portables), additions to accommodate growing dance and JROTC programs. The campus will also see a number of targeted projects including upgrades to roofing, HVAC, plumbing and floors.

Targeted Projects

A targeted project addresses more limited but critical deficiencies at facilities. These projects address safety, security and chronic electrical, plumbing, structural and HVAC issues. As part of the 2024 Bond, the majority of our campuses and facilities will see targeted upgrades throughout the life cycle of the bond. While you can’t always necessarily physically see these projects, they do a lot to extend the life cycles of our buildings and maintain environments that are not disruptive to our students and staff.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT: Digital marquees

Forty-one marquees will be replaced or installed across the district as part of the bond. These marquees will assist the district with sharing campus news, emergency alerts and campus wayfinding. In spring 2026, marquees will be installed at the following campuses: Bluebonnet ES, Brushy Creek ES, Chisholm Trail ES, Deep Wood ES, Robertson ES, Callison ES, Chandler Oaks ES, Gattis ES, Hopewell MS and Union Hill ES

Campus Athletic Projects

Athletic projects include turf installations and track resurfacings at our middle and high school campuses.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT: Track resurfacing

2024 Bond funds will see track resurfacing projects begin in spring 2026 at the following campuses: Canyon Vista MS, Chisholm Trail MS and Cedar Valley MS

A newly resurfaced track reduces tripping hazards, uneven areas and worn-down surfaces. This creates a safer environment for PE classes, athletics, marching band, after-school clubs, and community users. Resurfacing protects the underlying structure of the track, preventing more costly repairs or full replacement later. It keeps the track functional and durable for years to come.
