The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously last night to extend the contract for Superintendent Hafedh Azaiez through June 30, 2029.
The board unanimously approved a 1% increase to the superintendent’s base salary of $350,000—the first since 2021—and a bonus payment of $18,520, an amount determined by data related to student achievement. Azaiez’s contract requires a bonus if specific targets are met.
Board Pres. Alicia Markum thanked Azaiez for his hard work and collaboration.
“We are very excited to continue with you as the leader of this district,” Markum said. “I just want to say how much I appreciate that you consistently put our students first.”
Trustee Amber Landrum also took a moment to that Azaiez for his commitment to the district.
“Working in public education is difficult right now, and I know that you give this job, this community and everybody and everything in it, a thousand percent of your energy and dedication and devotion,” Landrum said.
Markum acknowledged that there are opportunities for improvement.
“And we had a very thoughtful and collaborative conversation about how we could move toward those improvements, but overall we’re very pleased with the progress that we’re making in the district,” she said.
Azaiez thanked both the board and his teams for their hard work.
“It really takes the whole team to make our district strong, and all of us working together is what makes Round Rock ISD a destination district,” he said. “I am so thankful to the board and to our campus staff and administration for the work they do every day. I’m excited at the chance to continue leading our district.”
Azaiez’s official contract is available online. Last night’s amendments to the contract will be available online by mid-February.
