Board Brief

Trustees began the evening with a Public Hearing on the annual TAPR Report, presented by Senior Chief of Schools & Innovation, Dr. Natalie Nichols.

During February’s regular board meeting, COO and CFO Dennis Covington reviewed the 2025–26 budget updates and the highly preliminary 2026–27 budget projections. Administration is working to reduce expenditures from department funds so that all expenditures for the remainder of the school year are for mission-critical items.

Additional highlights:

The board heard a 2024 Bond Program year in review from the administration, covering completed and in-progress projects and projections for upcoming projects in year two.

Trustees unanimously approved H1-H12, Action Items for Consideration by Consent, which included amendments to the 2026–27 Academic Calendar:

- Aug. 19 is now the first day of school. (Moved one day later.)

- Sept. 4 professional development day removed.

- Oct. 9 will be the professional development day, instead of Nov. 9.

- Feb. 12 will be the professional development day, instead of Feb. 5.

Trustees unanimously declined I1. Discussion and Possible Action on a Period of Prayer and Reading of Religious Texts during the School Day because state and federal law, and Round Rock ISD Board Policy already allow students to engage in prayer, reading of religious texts, and religious expression on school property during the school day.
