Fifty-seven students from Cedar Ridge, McNeil, Round Rock, and Westwood high schools earned their place in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State band, orchestra, or choir.
This is the fifth year our district has been in the top 5 of students represented in a TMEA All-State ensemble.
The 57 Round Rock ISD student musicians performed at the annual TMEA Clinic/Convention in San Antonio in early February. During the event, they worked with nationally recognized conductors who rehearsed the ensembles over three days, culminating in a final performance.
“We are incredibly proud of these students and the commitment they’ve shown throughout this rigorous process,” said Jager Loyde, Director of Fine Arts – Music. “The All-State journey requires months of disciplined preparation, resilience and focus starting in the Summer. Hundreds of our high school musicians competed against others across the state, to see 57 of our musicians reach this level speaks volumes about their work ethic and the strength of our music programs across the district.”
The musicians’ journey to state began last fall, when more than 70,000 high school musicians across Texas auditioned in their respective TMEA Regions. There, the students performed individually for a panel of judges, with the highest-ranking musicians advancing.
