Dear Round Rock ISD community,
Our district has consistently been a leader in public education, delivering outstanding opportunities, support and engagement for students and families, while honoring that everyone learns in their own way.
Over the past few months, we’ve surveyed students and families about their interest in virtual learning. We know virtual learning meets a real need—serving student-athletes, traveling families, and students who do their best work in a different setting.
To meet this need, we are proud to introduce the Round Rock ISD Virtual Academy—hybrid and fully virtual learning for grades 9–12, launching this fall. Enrollment will be capped at 300 students for this first year, and we’re committed to growing this opportunity thoughtfully, starting small and expanding each year.
Each of our five comprehensive high schools, Cedar Ridge, McNeil, Round Rock, Stony Point, and Westwood, will offer a virtual learning program. Students can choose from nearly 50 on-level, advanced and AP courses. They will be supported by teachers, student success coaches, counselors and interventionists dedicated solely to virtual learning, along with our tech team, who are here to keep virtual learning smooth and hassle-free.
We believe strong connections to a student’s home high school support motivation and success. Even while learning online, students can stay involved at their home campus and participate in sports, fine arts, clubs, dances, and pep rallies.
Visit us online to learn more about our Virtual Academy. The interest form opens April 1, and enrollment begins May 2, with spots available each semester on a first-come, first-served basis.
This is an exciting step forward as we continue to innovate and meet the needs of our students and families. By expanding learning options, we create more pathways for success and ensure every student can learn in a way that works best for them.
Respectfully,
Dr. Hafedh "AZ" Azaiez
