Board Brief

Trustees began the evening with a Public Hearing on the 2025–26 Targeted Improvement Plans, presented by Senior Chief of Schools & Innovation, Dr. Natalie Nichols.

CFO and COO Dennis Covington presented an update to the board regarding the district’s current year budget, as well as a preliminary budget for the 2026–27 school year. Covington told the board that a recent adjustment by the state comptroller’s office regarding frozen tax levies means the district now faces an estimated $6 million shortfall.
