Dear Round Rock ISD Community,
Our schools are just one part of a much bigger community, and strong partnerships help us give students opportunities that reach beyond the classroom.
We’re intentional about the partnerships we build because they can open real doors for our students. By working together with local organizations, businesses and higher education, we connect what students learn in our schools to the skills and opportunities they’ll need for their future. Career and Technical Education is a great example.
Today, 95% of our secondary students participate in CTE, gaining hands-on experience and exploring careers while they are still in school. We offer more than 30 career pathways that give students the chance to earn industry certifications, get a head start on college credit and gain real-world experience through job shadowing and internships.
Students can build skills in culinary arts, floral design, construction technology, biomedical science, drone aviation, finance, health sciences and robotics, just to name a few.
Round Rock High School’s Erfyl L. and McNeil High School students Tripp P. and Akshara J. join me in participating in a panel discussion at the Round Rock Chamber Power Lunch, sharing insights with local business leaders about career and technical education opportunities in our schools.
And we’re continuing to expand. We are opening a new CTE facility, made possible by the 2024 bond approved by voters, that will create additional opportunities for students to explore fields including electric trades, semiconductors, auto body repair and cosmetology.
Our partnerships with higher education institutions, including Austin Community College, TSTC, UT and others, also give students opportunities to earn college credit while still in high school, making higher education more affordable and accessible.
Through our partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area, students at 10 schools have access to free after-school care, tutoring and enrichment. This gives students additional opportunities to learn and grow while providing families with support beyond the school day.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area after-school program officially opened at Bluebonnet Elementary School, bringing free after-school care, tutoring and enrichment to its school community.
Our Reading in the RRock program brings community volunteers into our schools to help kindergarten students build their literacy skills. You can be part of this important work. Become a partner in a child’s reading journey by signing up to volunteer. You'll help a young reader build confidence and discover a love of reading.

These programs look different, but they share something important: they are stronger because we do them together. Our partnerships allow us to extend the support and opportunities we provide to students at every grade level, from helping a kindergartner build confidence as a reader to giving a high school student a head start on college or connecting students with future careers.
