Mike Harmon

Round Rock ISD will soon have a new police chief. Mike Harmon, currently the police chief for the city of Cedar Park, will join the district on Nov. 9.

Harmon has spent 28 years as a Cedar Park police officer, including the last five as chief of the city’s 114-officer department.

“We are so excited for Chief Harmon to join us and lead the team here,” said Superintendent Hafedh Azaiez. “We have some of the hardest working officers around, and we know that Chief Harmon will fit right in and grow and strengthen our department.”

Harmon said he looks forward to joining the district and serving the students, staff and families of the Round Rock ISD community.

“Serving Cedar Park for the past 28 years has been one of the greatest privileges of my life,” Harmon said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to continue serving in a new capacity, protecting students, supporting educators and families, and carrying forward the community policing principles that have guided me throughout my career.”

Chief Harmon holds a master’s degree in strategic leadership from Mountain State University and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Texas State University.
